Winner of GMTV Search For A TV Presenter announced

02 Nov 2004

After a glittering ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel hosted by Amanda Holden, the winner of GMTV's search for a presenter was yesterday named as 22 year old Katie Houlbrook.

Thousands of entrants from auditions all over the country were reduced down to 6 finalists after voting by GMTV viewers.

Coaching from Glenn Kinsey

The finalists all received coaching from Glenn Kinsey and the winner is set to be a reporter for Lorraine Kelly's LK Today programme as well as star in a Pantene Pro-V television commercial.

"Brilliant"

During an interview with Lorraine on this morning's programme, Katie described the TV coaching from Glenn as "brilliant".

The TV coaching from Glenn Kinsey was brilliant

"It was also quite scary", said Katie. "It was like, you've got one minute, do a Lorraine Kelly interview - and you've got someone talking in your ear at the same time - but it was great fun!"

"I'm going to make sure that I work hard and that I can follow-through now and get some more TV experience and some more training".

Reporter and presenter

Katie, who currently works for a marketing company, says that her role model is Cat Deeley as "she's a fantastic presenter, looks gorgeous and has great confidence". She also admires Lorraine Kelly's style of presenting as she "makes guests feel at ease and has a bubbly persona".

Katie is due to report and present for the LK Today programme in the New Year.

From all of us here, congratulations to Katie and to the other finalists who did so well - Jax Davies, Rose Chukukere, Vicky Selvey, Nicola Mahoney and Olivia Midgley.
